LEAGUE NOTES

The departure of the Rams and Raiders "has had little, if
any, impact on the USC and UCLA box office." The unbeaten
Trojans drew only 51,131 Saturday at the Coliseum, while the
Bruins got 43,798 at the Rose Bowl (L.A. TIMES, 10/16)....The
Northern League's St. Paul Saints and their owner, Mike Veeck,
were profiled on "60 Minutes." Veeck on MLB's ills: "Owners
once and a while should wander down into the stands, risk getting
a splinter, and talk to people who generally can run their
ballparks better than they can. And they should have fun working
in this business, and they don't. Fun is in short supply" ("60
Minutes," CBS, 10/15).
