         Former VP of Football (Soccer) for ISL Marketing AG in
    Lucerne, Switzerland ROSS BERLIN has joined Eagle International
    Group LLC as Managing Dir/Europe (Eagle International Group,
    LLC)....The AFL's Tampa Bay Storm named CHRIS LAHEY Dir of Media
    Relations....RANDY SMITH announced his resignation as GM of the
    Padres....The Whalers promoted  KEVIN MAXWELL to Dir of Player

         "BURNIE," the Heat mascot, got hit with a $1M civil lawsuit
    Thursday by YVONNE GIL-REBOLLO of Puerto Rico.  Burnie "allegedly
    hurt and embarrassed" her by dragging her onto the court during
    an exhibition game a year ago.  The lawsuit is not only directed
    at Wes Lockard (aka "Burnie"), but the Heat and the FL Basketball
    Associates (MIAMI HERALD, 10/13)....This morning's W.S. JOURNAL
    sports page profiles Illinois football coach LOU TEPPER's efforts
    to make racial integration a part of his program by requiring his
    players to promise to get to know teammates of the other race and
    putting them in situations that promote such contact (W.S.
    JOURNAL, 10/13).....Hurricane PETER MCNEELEY told the BOSTON
    HERALD's "Inside Track" he hasn't had a drink since Sept. 16 and
    said he won't have one again "until after I box for DON KING
    again."  The piece notes his two TV commercials for America
    OnLine and Pizza Hut. McNeeley on the ads: "Hey, anyone who
    doesn't think those ads are funny shouldn't call themselves an
    American" (BOSTON HERALD, 10/12)....A story in today's N.Y. TIMES
    examines the tax plight of tennis star STEFFI GRAF (N.Y. TIMES,
    10/13)....Bulls Coach PHIL JACKSON was interviewed on ABC's "Good
    Morning America" to discuss his new book, "Sacred Hoops:
    Spiritual Lesson of a Hardwood Warrior."  Jackson calls the book
    "a link between spirituality and sports" ("GMA," ABC, 10/13).
