USA HOCKEY'S REGISTRATION GROWS OVER 400,000

     USA HOCKEY released the number of registered players,
coaches, and referees in their organization.  For the first time
in its 58-year history, USA HOCKEY has surpassed more than
400,000 members.  Registration for '94-95 totaled 402,533, an
increase of 16% from the preceding season.  USA Hockey President
Walter Bush:  "Hockey has emerged as the sport of the 1990's in
America."  Among the highlights:
     -- USA HOCKEY has 350,007 registered players, 38,688
coaches, and 13,838 referees. Their newest program, USA Hockey
InLine has registered over 10,000 members since its inception
nine months ago.
     -- USA HOCKEY has most of their registered members from the
state of Michigan with 3,717, followed by 3,250 in the Central
States, 2,966 in Minnesota, 2,870 in New York, and 2,572 in
Massachusetts.
     -- USA HOCKEY also has 745 registered members in the
Southeastern part of the country, 1,248 in the Rocky Mountain
region, and 1,821 in the Pacific region.
     -- USA HOCKEY notes the largest gains in team registration
were in the Youth (17 and under), Secondary/College and Senior
categories, with women's and girl's team programs (both adult and
youth) also growing.
