The Pasadena City Council has approved a plan to give the Rose
Bowl a $22.5M overhaul, according to the L.A. TIMES.  Renovations
will reportedly include theater-style seats, a permanent video
board, new scoreboards, additional rest rooms and extra
concessions (L.A. TIMES, 9/27)....It's now certain that
construction will not begin on Toronto's Air Canada Centre before
the deadline set by the provincial government.  But the $1M
penalty to the Raptors "may not be set in stone either."  The
Ontario government will reportedly "not press the ultimatum" and
are in discussions with the team (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL,
9/27)....Three events scheduled for the Trans World Dome next
month have been postponed so that "all available construction
time can be used" to get the stadium ready for the Rams home
opener (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 9/27)....The MA Legislature
today  begins public hearings on the proposed megaplex (BOSTON
GLOBE, 9/27).  An editorial in today's BOSTON GLOBE supports the
Summer Street site for the proposed megaplex.  (BOSTON GLOBE,
9/27)....3Com CEO Eric Benhamou is reportedly receiving hate mail
over the company's purchase of naming rights to the former
Candlestick Park (S.F. CHRONICLE, 9/27)....In Indianapolis, Bill
Benner writes the "cosmetic changes" to Market Square Arena
"don't solve the arena's glaring shortcomings."  The arena
recently had new seats, new paint, and a new sound system put in,
but still lacks such things as luxury suites (INDIANAPOLIS STAR,
9/25).
