ATLANTA CITY GOVERNMENT'S MARKETING PLAN DRAWS CRITICISM

The city of Atlanta's plan to market the city for the
Olympics "drew sharp criticism" yesterday from a key ACOG sponsor
and an "influential" IOC member, according to the ATLANTA
CONSTITUTION. IOC exec board member Dick Pound "challenged" city
officials about their marketing deal with Munson Steed, President
of B.G. Swing Games Management Inc. In an effort to bring the
city at least $2.5M in revenue, Steed has proposed leasing public
property to companies during the Games for retail carts and
kiosks. Steed has offered the right of first refusal to ACOG
sponsors, but if they refuse others, including competitors, would
be approached (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 9/20).
