INDYCAR OWNERS THREATEN INDY 500 BOYCOTT

     IndyCar owners have threatened to boycott the Indy 500 of
the Indianapolis Motor Speedway does not hold open qualifications
for all 33 starting spots, according to the INDIANAPOLIS STAR.
IndyCar reportedly plans to run at Michigan Int'l Speedway on the
same day as the Indy 500, unless "qualifications are held as
usual" at Indy.  The Michigan Speedway is also considering
honoring all Indy 500 tickets if the race is run (CHICAGO
TRIBUNE, 9/20).
