STADIUM NOTES: TWINS PRESIDENT CALLS METRODOME "OBSOLETE"

     Twins President Jerry Bell said Monday the Metrodome is
"economically obsolete for major league baseball purposes" and
the Twins need an immediate "one-to five-year quick fix to help
the team stay competitive" (Jay Weiner, Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE,
9/12)....An editorial in Monday's DENVER POST supports the team's
efforts to have a new stadium built:  "The Broncos are at least
entitled to the well-maintained facility they were promised when
they signed a contract lasting until 2018" (DENVER POST,
9/11)....Cuyahoga County Commissioner Lee Weingart has stepped up
efforts to have a new stadium built for the Browns rather than
renovating Cleveland Stadium (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER,
9/10)....Citizens Against Fast-Track, a coalition of more than
100 Prince George's County citizens groups, will sue to stop
legislation that puts the Redskins stadium project on a fast-
track (WASHINGTON BUSINESS JOURNAL, 9/8-14 issue).
