WILSON RACKETS/MACGREGOR GOLF PARENT COMPANY DISMISSES CEO

     Amer, the Finnish company that controls "some of the best
know sporting goods brands," including Wilson tennis rackets,
MacGregor golf clubs and Atomic skis, has let go their chief
executive "who led its strategy to focus on sports."  FINANCIAL
TIMES reports Amer has relieved Seppoo Ahonen of his duties but
"restated its commitment" to Ahonen's strategy.  Cited was
"discord among top management" that "seriously eroded Amer's
credibility among shareholders and investors."  His departure
"leaves a question mark over Amer's future," despite the board's
support.  Raimo Taivalkoski will take over until a permanent
replacement is found.  Taivalkoski said he will not move to
Chicago where Ahonen has "based himself to oversee a
reorganization of the sporting goods operations" (FINANCIAL
TIMES, 8/24).
