NBC SPORTS TO HELP WITH WINDOWS 95 HYPE

Next weekend, NBC Sports will unveil "Windows 95 Weekend," a
promotion designed to showcase Microsoft's new operating system,
according to INSIDE MEDIA. As NBC's announcer introduces the
sports programming on Saturday, August 26, an animated version of
the Windows 95 screen will appear with an arrow clicking on "NFL
on NBC." The network will then proceed with its scheduled NFL
preseason telecast. The opening will be the same for AVP and
local news on Saturday, and repeat on Sunday. In addition,
Microsoft has bought "significant ad time" on NBC's sports
broadcasts that weekend, with the Rolling Stones' "Start Me Up"
ad expected to get wide play. In addition, Microsoft has secured
signage on the AVP broadcasts. The idea came from NBC. NBC
Sports Senior VP Jon Miller: "We told Microsoft, 'here's
something we would like to offer; here's what a network
partnership can do for you.'" NBC will have a site on The
Microsoft Network which debuts on August 24, along with Windows
95 (Langdon Brockinton, INSIDE MEDIA, 8/19).
