A ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH poll suggests that baseball "still
holds the broadest and deepest attention of any pro sport in the
area," writes Mike Eisenbath. The poll, which asked residents
how they spend leisure time, showed that baseball, despite a drop
attributed to the strike, "scored fairly well ... well ahead of
hockey and college sports." 40% of the 500 St. Louis-area
resident polled said they attended at least one Cardinals game in
the past year. The poll also noted that 51% plan on following
the Rams in their first season in St. Louis, while 46% say they
will not. The Cardinals poor play is cited, as 62% say their
interest in the team would increase if they were in a pennant
race. As for the Blues, 78% said they didn't attend a pro hockey
game in the past year (ST LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 8/17).
RAMS TICKET DELAY: Rams season ticket holders have yet to
receive their tickets due to the delay in NFL approval of their
move and logistical problems of playing in two stadium this
season. Fans should receive tickets within the next two weeks
(Lorraine Kee, ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 8/19).
