MEDIA NOTES

     WSBK-Boston announcer Sean McDonough has been "banned" from
TBN telecasts by Ken Schanzer, President of TBN, "for criticizing
the format," according to Jack Craig in this morning's BOSTON
GLOBE.  Craig: "McDonough not only has been proven correct but
has broadcast offers aplenty while Schanzer prepares his resume
as TBN shuts down after this season" (BOSTON GLOBE, 8/11)....Don
King and Peter McNeeley will appear on CNN's "Larry King Live"
next Tuesday.  King will follow with an interview of Mike Tyson
Wednesday (CNN)....SportsChannel New York plans on televising 25
Big East Conference basketball games for each of the next three
seasons (NEWSDAY, 8/11)....The IHL Houston Aeros have reached a
deal with KETX-TV, Houston's UPN affiliate, to carry 20 regular
season games, plus playoff action (Aeros)....Prime has agreed to
a three-year deal with Conference USA to broadcast men's
basketball.  Liberty Sports has the new conference's exclusive
football national and regional rights beginning next year through
2000 (GOULD MEDIA, 8/10)....ESPN's "Outside the Lines" will
examine the return of Mike Tyson this Monday at 8:00pm E.D.T.
ESPN2 debuts "RPM 2Night" September 3.  The weekly half-hour show
dedicated to auto racing will be hosted by Kenny Mayne
(ESPN)....The Sixers have hired Tom McGinnis to become the team's
new radio play-by-play man.  McGinnis replaces Jon Gurevitch
(PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 8/11)....Fox's Vince Wladika denied
rumors that the network was willing to pay $750M for the Sydney
Games (USA TODAY, 8/11).
