THE WOMEN ARE SMARTER; GOING TO PHILLY FOR 2000 FINAL FOUR
The NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament in 2000 will be held in Philadelphia. The city "can expect an infusion" of $10-$15M by hosting the games, according to Mel Greenberg in the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER. While the Spectrum is listed as the site for the games, the NCAA will be asked to transfer the event to the new CoreStates Center once the arena opens next year. The Univ of PA and St. Joseph's will cohost the event (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 8/10).
