TWINS FINANCIAL PICTURE COULD BE AS BLEAK AS ON-THE- FIELD

Through June 30, the Twins had received $4,516,897 in total
ticket revenue, compared with $9,028,305 in '94, reports Sid
Hartman in this morning's STAR-TRIBUNE. Hartman writes that
although the team had eight less home games in the same time
period this year, "eight more dates would make little difference
the way the Twins have been drawing." The team drew 868,162
through June 30 last year, compared with 452,339 in '95. Hartman
also reports that concession sales through June 30 were down
$2,050,108, with the team's share down $717,538. Hartman: "The
baseball situation for small-market teams such as Minnesota is
critical unless baseball comes up with revenue sharing and a
national television contract" (Minneapolis STAR-TRIBUNE, 7/25).
