CONCESSIONS MADE TO CAVALIERS INFLATED COSTS FOR GUND ARENA

     In an effort to wrap up a deal to bring the Cavaliers back
to Cleveland, Mayor Michael White and Cuyahoga County
Commissioner Timothy Hagan "gave in on major issues" that ended
up "sending arena costs spiraling," according to the Cleveland
PLAIN-DEALER.  White, Hagan and other public officials in the
Gateway Economic Development Corp. are now facing questions
"about their ability to successfully deal with another sports
project on the horizon, the renovation of Cleveland Stadium"
(Joel Rutchick, Timothy Heider & Stephen Koff, Cleveland PLAIN-
DEALER, 7/9).
