     DANNY VILLANEUVA JR. was named President and GM of MLS's
L.A. franchise.  Villaneuva is President of Villaneuva Companies,
which have interests in radio and TV broadcasting
(MLS)....Philadelphia lawyer GEORGE BOCHETTE will be sworn in
today as PA State Athletic Commissioner (PSAC)....The Lowell, MA,
AHL group has named TOM ROWE Exec VP/Ops for its newly acquired
franchise (AHL)....Marlins Assistant GM FRANK WREN became the
third finalist to interview for the Devil Rays GM job.  The team
has also interviewd the Braves' CHUCK LAMAR and the Cubs' AL
GOLDIS (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 6/30).
