TURNER STILL DECIDING ON WHERE TO PUT ARENA

     After meeting with Hawks Owner Ted Turner yesterday, TBS
officials said there are "still four sites in the running for a
new arena," according to today's ATLANTA CONSTITUTION.  Having
considered more than 20 sites, the Hawks have "whittled their
options" down to two downtown sites, and two suburban sites.  The
downtown sites include a railroad gulch between CNN Center and
the Five Points MARTA station, and tearing down the Omni to build
a new arena there.  According to William Shaw, who is heading
Turner's arena task force, Ted Turner favors a downtown site.  If
the downtown gulch is chosen, the Omni still "might be torn down
to make way for a Turner Broadcasting expansion."  No matter the
location, TBS "will seek" an NHL team once the arena issue is
settled (Unger/Saporta, ATL. CONSTITUTION, 6/28).
