IT'S ALL STRAWBERRIES AND CHAMPAGNE: WIMBLEDON NEWS

HOW ABOUT A GUEST SPOT ON "FRIENDS"? This past March in
Palermo, Sicily, NBC Sports -- taking a cue from Nike -- shot a
new on-air promo campaign for Wimbledon with Andre Agassi and
Pete Sampras. Co-producer Peter Magelof: "These are very image-
oriented, whereas in the past they've been more topical -- where
we talked about so and so taking on so and so in the semifinals,
or the ladies final or men's final. This is really the first
time that we've traveled overseas and shot a massive image
campaign. That itself is remarkable" (NBC Sports).
TENNIS IN CYBERSPACE: Through July 9, Prodigy customers
will be able to tap into HBO's site for up-to-the-minute
stats; daily celebrity sightings; a live chat with Martina
Navratilova; bios and pix of top-ranked players and HBO
analysts; and the schedule of HBO's coverage (HBO, 6/22).
FROM THE BOOTH: In Tampa, Doug Carlson writes that are
HBO's Martina Navratilova still "is less analyst than
player." Carlson: "She's reluctant to offer much straight
talk, due in no small part to the fact that she doesn't want
to offend anyone. She's president of the WTA Tour Players
Association and acts like it" (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 6/22).
