UBL ESTABLISHES NEW YORK FRANCHISE AND PLANS FOR STADIUM

In anticipation of its planned '96 start, the UBL has taken the first step in establishing its New York franchise with construction of a new stadium in agreement with Long Island's Suffolk Community College. A unanimous resolution adopted by the Suffolk Community College Board of Trustees on June 15 agrees to consider the plan for a ballpark on the campus pending "an in- depth review by the board." UBL co-founder Bob Mrazek, a former Congressman from Long Island: "We are tremendously excited to bring major league baseball to Long Island through a partnership ... that can provide a significant new funding source for educational purposes while dramatically enhancing its athletic program" (UBL).
