DC AGENCY VOTES TO GIVE ITSELF OVERSIGHT OF ARENA PROJECT
Published June 23, 1995
In a unanimous vote yesterday, members of the DC Redevelopment Land Agency (RLA) approved an agreement that would allow the National Capital Development Corp. to lease a city block at Gallery Place to Bullets/Caps Owner Abe Pollin to construct a 20,000-seat arena. The WASHINGTON TIMES reports this is a "step forward" for the project, but also "sets up more hurdles" for arena negotiators as RLA will have the final say on how the city finances its part of the project (Lorraine Woellert, WASHINGTON TIMES, 6/23).
