GLAZER DEAL TO GET BUCS MAY BE COMPLETED SOON

Malcolm Glazer "may be able to finalize" his $192M purchase
of the Bucs within ten days, "provided amendments to his lease at
Tampa Stadium get formal approval this week," according to Joe
Henderson of the TAMPA TRIBUNE. The Tampa Stadium Authority
(TSA) "unanimously" passed recommendations for rent restrictions
yesterday that were agreed to last week during negotiations with
the team. Both the Hillsborough County Commission and Tampa City
Council plan to consider the issue this week, and, if both agree,
Glazer will be allowed to defer payments to the TSA until January
15. If the team's average attendance drops below 55,000, the
Bucs would be allowed to reduce the amount it pays the TSA.
Other amendment highlights: 1) The team gets to keep all parking
and concession money on average paid attendance over 55,000. 2)
The team can void their lease after one year, but TSA members
said "that should not be considered an escape clause because
under current lease terms the team could leave anyway" (TAMPA
TRIBUNE, 6/20).
