FRANCHISE NOTES

The Red Sox are awaiting word from the American League on
the validity of clauses in several of their players' contracts
which call for attendance-based bonuses based on World Series
games. Mike Shalin reports, "The clause is unique and, while it
is believed to be legal -- even though players who have never had
bonuses just for getting their teams into the World Series -- is
raising questions" (BOSTON HERALD, 6/16)....The Capitals unveil
their new logo and uniforms at CAPFEST '95, to be held June 22 at
USAir Arena (Capitals)....The Suns have raised their ticket
prices by an average of almost 7% per seat, but Suns President
Jerry Colangelo said the increase was not "anything out of the
norm" compared with other NBA markets and considering local
demand (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 6/16).... Intrebrew SA, the Belgian
company looking to buy John Labatt Ltd., said it will probably
wait until next year to sell the Blue Jays, but the CFL Argonauts
could go sooner. FL developer Norton Herrick is aggressively
seeking the Argos (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 6/16)....The Illinois
Stadium Authority, which operates Comiskey Park, is rebating some
$3.4M to the state and city, $1.7M less than last year. The Sox
pay rent based on ticket sales (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 6/16). ....In
their opening season, the Jaguars will construct the Pavilion --
tents under the stadium's south scoreboard offering food and
entertainment for fans who will be tailgating before the game
(Jacksonville FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 6/16).
