PHIL SCHEUER, the NHL's Dir of Administration at its Montreal office, has been fired, according to William Houston of the Toronto GLOBE & MAIL. Scheuer was with the league for 18 years and responsible for setting up the league's regular season and playoff schedule. Houston reports, "Insiders view his dismissal as part of the continuing shift in league power from Canada to the United States" (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 5/27).
