TOP OF THE HEAP: THE FORTUNE 500

     The May 15th issue of FORTUNE magazine features its newranking of the 500 largest U.S. corporations -- now based oncombining industrial and service companies.  The ticket foradmission is a minimum of $2.2B in annual revenue.  By THE SPORTSBUSINESS DAILY's count, 145 of the FORTUNE 500 can be considered"players" in the sports industry.  The Top Ten of the Fortune 500follow: GM; Ford; Exxon; Wal-Mart; AT&T; GE; IBM; Mobil; SearsRoebuck; and Philip Morris.     SPORTS STOCKS:  Two companies from THE SPORTS BUSINESSDAILY's "Pure Play" Stock Ticker made the FORTUNE 500, andanother two made the FORTUNE 1000 industrial rankings.
