COCA-COLA BECOMES A SPONSOR OF NFL'S INTERNET SITE

Coca-Cola will join Prodigy, Reebok and Visa in sponsoring
the NFL site on the Internet. The new World Wide Web site
debuted earlier this week (N.Y. TIMES, 4/13).
NEW AD CAMPAIGN: Coca-Cola will debut its new ads created
by Hollywood ad agency Creative Artists this Monday. The six new
TV ads are part of "continuing plans to release new work
throughout the year for its flagship Coca-Cola Classic brand"
(N.Y. TIMES, 4/13). Two of the ads feature a smiling sun -- the
same sun featured in a spot last year. In another spot, green
hair grows on a Chia pet-like creature while it drinks Coke
(Chris Roush, ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 4/13). Coca-Cola
spokesperson Bob Bertini: "The sun is part of our efforts to
create iconography. The sun is a universal symbol. It has
relevance in every culture" (Harry Berkowitz, N.Y. NEWSDAY,
4/13). "ET" gave a preview of the new "blossoming All Coca-Cola
commercial campaign" which "started as a pencil drawing, and then
was scanned and fully realized on computer" ("ET," 4/12).
A CONTOURED CAN? Coke is test marketing a contoured can in
Germany, similar to its contoured plastic bottle that debuted
last year. It probably will not be unveiled in the U.S. for a
few years (BLOOMBERG/HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 4/11).
