NHL TO SEND OFFICIAL TO WINNIPEG ON FACT-FINDING MISSION

     NHL Senior VP & General Counsel Jeff Pash will visit
Winnipeg tomorrow on a "fact finding mission," according to
today's WINNIPEG FREE PRESS.  Pash will reportedly meet with the
mayor, some members of Manitoba Emtertainment Complex (MEC), the
group trying to keep the Jets in Winnipeg, and Jets Owner Barry
Shenkarow.  The MEC has a May 1 deadline to put a deposit down to
purchase the team.  NHL VP of Public Relations Arthur Pincus:  "A
lot of people might think the NHL doesn't care about Winnipeg,
but I can tell you that the league cares very much about the
Winnipeg Jets.  If the league didn't care, why would we put
somebody on a plane at this point?" (Don Campbell, WINNIPEG FREE
