USOC WHITTLES DOWN LIST FOR NEW EXEC DIRECTOR
Published April 10, 1995
The USOC "will begin interviewing leading candidates for its executive director opening and might restructure its top two management positions as part of the process," according to Mike Dodd of USA TODAY. The search committee to replace Harvey Schiller, now President of Turner Sports, is down to a dozen or so candidates with a possible recommendation by mid-summer. Among those believed to be on the list: NCAA Exec Dir Dick Schultz, Nike Sports Management President Terdema Ussery, USA Hockey Exec Dir Dave Ogrean and former U.S. Skiing CEO Mike Jacki. Interim Exec Dir John Krimsky "also is on the list, but is expected to stay in his business role as part of the restructuring. Krimsky said the committee is considering recommending 'two pillars of leadership,' one for business and one for sports administration." Krimsky: "I'm most comfortable with the business pillar." The committee is recommending the two positions be equal (USA TODAY, 4/10).
