ROMAN SENATE-STYLE TREATMENT FOR SENATORS FANS

The Senators will begin taking season ticket orders today
for their new Palladium, set to open in mid-season of '96. The
team promotion lends to an atmosphere "more like an upscale bank
than a ticket office," according to Michael Prentice in this
morning's OTTAWA CITIZEN. Fans, by appointment only, will go
through the lounge, "viewing seating plans and models of the
Palladium to help" them decide where to sit in the new venue.
They will then meet with a ticket representative in a private
room to discuss purchasing plans. For the first few days, 40
fans per day will be invited to buy tickets based on their
priority registration number. The team now has about 8,000
season-ticket holders, but hopes to have more than 13,000 for the
18,500-seat arena (Michael Prentice, OTTAWA CITIZEN, 3/28).
LYNX SALES SLOW: The baseball strike seems to have hurt the
Ottawa Lynx, the Expos Triple-A club. The team has sold only
about 3,500 season tickets, compared with 4,800 for last season
(OTTAWA CITIZEN, 3/28).
