     Sports and Recreation Inc. shares "plummeted 42% in the wake
of an earnings report that was substantially below analysts'
estimates."  The sporting goods-retailer, based in Tampa, had its
stock close at $10.75, down $7.75 in NYSE composite trading (WALL
STREET JOURNAL, 3/15)....Retail sales for the month of February
fell five-tenths of 1%, a "surprise decline" that was the first
in almost a year.  Merrill Lynch Economist Bruce Steinberg:
"Consumers are keeping their wallets shut" (N.Y. TIMES,
3/15)....Clarion Performance Properties in Greenwich, CT won the
'95 Reggie Award from the Promotion Marketing Association of
America for the Sprint World Cup Promotional Effort.  The Reggie
Award is one of the marketing industry's most prestigious honors
(Clarion)....Toyota has been the biggest winner on the PGA Tour
this year, according to Phil Mushnick of the N.Y. POST.  Peter
Jacobsen wore a Toyota visor as he won the Buick Invitational,
and Mark O'Meara wore a Toyota visor when he won the Honda
Classic (N.Y. POST, 3/15)....Base Hit Cookies will be a major
sponsor of the USA Baseball Junior Team, and will be the
corporate host at a number of team-related events and receive
logo identification on jersey's, T-shirts and other team gear
(USA Baseball).
