NEW GOLF TOUR MAY ONLY BE A PAR TWO IN 1995

The World Golf Tour, originally slated for eight events in
1995, may only play two events according to U.S. PGA Tour Policy
Board member Brad Faxon. Faxon, who made the comment Friday
during play at the Johnnie Walker World Championship, said the
events would take place during times that wouldn't conflict with
U.S., European and Japanese tours. One event would be opposite
the Shark Shootout, a December event organized by World Tour
backer Greg Norman. The other World Tour event would go up
against the Johnnie Walker tournament, which might be moved to
Puerto Rico. World Golf Tour Exec Dir John Montgomery was
evidently "slipping contract offers under players' doors this
week with no apparent takers" (Joe Concannon, BOSTON GLOBE,
12/17).
