NAMES IN THE NEWS

     BILL CLARK, Dir of the Commonwealth Invitational indoor
track & field meet in Boston, filed a grievance against USA Track
& Field Exec Dir OLLAN CASSELL over Commonwealth's exclusion from
the new USATF/IMG televised track series (BOSTON HERALD, 11/27).
Despite Clark's complaint and other challenges, Cassell is
expected to recieve a three-year contract extension at this
week's USATF convention in St. Louis (Mike Fish, ATLANTA
CONSTITUTION, 11/27)....Cowboys Owner JERRY JONES appeared on
NBC's "NFL Live" wearing the team's new "special occasion" jersey
(NBC, 11/24).  But acorss the dial on Fox, JIMMY JOHNSON was
saying that jerseys are not entirely new:  "Jerry came to me last
year three days before the Super Bowl and said, 'Hey, let's wear
these new jerseys. ... I didn't want to take any chances on a
game like that" ("NFL Sunday," Fox, 11/24)....Former L.A. Kings
Owner BRUCE McNALL is expected to plead guilty today in Los
Angeles to charges of conspiracy and fraud (TORONTO STAR, 11/28).
In an SUN interview, McNall said he would accept jail time if
necessary (TORONTO SUN, 11/27)....Fox Sports President DAVID HILL
was profiled in the CHICAGO TRIBUNE:  "To witness Hill in action
is to watch a conductor of a finely tuned symphony" (CHICAGO
TRIBUNE, 11/27).... Eagles owner JEFFREY LURIE is profiled in the
PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, under the subhead: "Jeffrey Lurie has made
it clear that he wants to be like Al Davis.  This has ruffled
feathers" (PHILA. INQUIRER, 11/25).....Millionaire racetrack
owner BRUTON SMITH will announce today a site in the Dallas-Ft.
Worth area for the location of a $70M super speedway (FT. WORTH
STAR-TELEGRAM, 11/25)....BARBARA WALTERS' "10 Most Fascinating
People of '94" airs December 13.  On the list: OSKUNA BAIUL,
RUPERT MURDOCH and Cowboys Owner JERRY JONES (WASHINGTON POST,
11/27).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth.
