NHL RELEASES ITS VERSION OF HOCKEY'S ECONOMICS

     In conjunction with Commissioner Gary Bettman's announcement
that the NHL Board of Governors had rejected the NHLPA's most
recent proposal, the NHL released a detailed statement comparing
the league and the union proposals and outlining the league's
financial condition:
        PERCENT INCREASE/DECREASE FROM 1989-90 TO 1993-94
