NFL Panthers Tab Allen & Co. To Handle Team Sale Process

The NFL Panthers hired Allen & Co. to manage the team sale process. The Panthers in a statement said the sale will be led by Allen & Co.’s Steve Greenberg on financial matters, while Proskauer’s Joe Leccese and Moore & Van Allen’s Billy Moore will lead legal matters. Leccese in based in N.Y., while Moore is based in Charlotte. The team reiterated that the sale process “will not begin, and offers will not be entertained, until the last game is played.” The Panthers play the Saints Sunday in a Wild Card game.

The selection of Allen & Co. may come as somewhat of a surprise as Bank of America is located in Charlotte and holds the naming rights to the Panthers’ stadium. Sources suggested former and current Bank of America execs could bid for the team and that might pose a conflict to representing the sale.
