NFL's Lockhart Expects Goodell's Contract To Be "Wrapped Up Soon"

NFL Exec VP/Communications Joe Lockhart today said he expects a contract extension for Commissioner Roger Goodell should be “wrapped up soon.” He also confirmed that Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones has threatened to sue the league if Goodell’s contract is extended. Lockhart noted the owners’ 32-0 vote in May to give the compensation committee authority to extend Goodell’s deal to '24 gave the league legal clearance to do so. He said talks between Goodell and the committee had been productive and amicable, and he added reports were inaccurate that stated Goodell was furious that owners wanted more incentives in his contract.
