If the city of Detroit lands an MLS expansion team, it will "play at least temporarily at Ford Field," according to sources. Pistons Owner Tom Gores and Cavaliers Owner Dan Gilbert are jointly seeking an expansion team, and Detroit "expects to make its formal pitch this month to league officials." Gilbert and Gores in '16 unveiled a $1B plan to "build a 20,000-plus seat soccer-specific stadium" at the site of the unfinished Wayne County jail, but talks "remain ongoing about securing the site and building new justice faculties for the county elsewhere."
