Gulati To Remain U.S. Soccer President As Coach Arena Steps Down

USMNT coach Bruce Arena has "resigned from the position," while U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati on Friday said that he is "not stepping down." Gulati on a conference call said, "No, I don’t plan to resign. It’s not the right day for me to talk about my personal future plans in terms of the Federation’s presidency." Gulati added that he "has not made a decision yet on whether he will run again, then added later that he will make that decision 'in the coming weeks.'" Arena’s replacement "has not been named." Gulati said a coaching hire will likely be made in “seven to 10 days” (PHILLY.com, 10/13).
