USGA Says It Will "Welcome" Trump To U.S. Women's Open

The USGA on Friday said it would “welcome” President Trump at the U.S. Women’s Open after he tweeted earlier in the day he planned to attend the tournament upon returning from a trip to Paris. The tournament is being held at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J. (USATODAY.com, 7/14). Trump will become the “third sitting president to attend a USGA event” and the “first to attend the U.S. Women’s Open” (GOLFCHANNEL.com, 7/14).

There are 100 “more credentialed media at this year’s Women’s Open than there were” last year, when it was held at CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, Calif. Despite Trump’s presence, more media “won’t be added this week,” as “credentialing has closed” (GOLFWEEK.com, 7/14).
