Judge HR Derby Cards Set Sales Record For Topps' Daily Service

A set of baseball cards commemorating Yankees RF Aaron Judge’s Home Run Derby title has become the top-selling regular-season cards in the history of the Topps Now daily on-demand card service. Topps sold more than 14,300 cards relating to Judge between two base cards and a limited number of autographed cards and relic cards containing pieces of the socks he wore on Monday for the Derby. The totals top the more than 13,500 Topps Now cards sold in May for the Yankees’ number retirement ceremony for Derek Jeter. With the base cards selling of $9.99 each and the autographed and relic versions priced as high as $2,999.99, Judge produced a six-figure day of revenue for Topps.

The company last year sold more than 22,000 cards relating to the Cubs’ postseason run across several different releases. However, Topps execs said they were still amazed on the singular impact Judge has had on the industry. “Judge has been the catalyst for a lot of great things happening in our business,” said Topps Dir of New Product Development & E-Commerce Jeff Heckman. “He’s basically the entire package. He’s playing in a big market, he’s a rookie, obviously has that physical stature, and he has a likable personality.”
