Pac-12 Networks Staff Instructed Not To Discuss Luke Heimlich

Ahead of tonight's MLB Draft, Pac-12 Networks staff in an internal memo have been "urged to not 'engage in the discussion' and to dodge any questions" regarding Oregon State P Luke Heimlich. This comes after a recent report that the once-highly-touted prospect pleaded guilty to a child molestation charge when he was 15 years old. The Pac-12 Networks memo, which included statements from Heimlich and OSU VP Steve Clark, stated, "It's a difficult situation for everyone involved" (DEADSPIN.com, 6/12).

Heimlich was ranked by Baseball America as the No. 43 MLB Draft prospect prior to his situation coming to light, but he is “no longer in the publication’s top 500” (Corvallis GAZETTE-TIMES, 6/12). Heimlich "likely won’t hear his name called" as "teams, league and player continue to process an almost unprecedented situation" (USATODAY.com, 6/12).
