NCAA Lifts Ban On North Carolina Events; NBA Remains Undecided

The NCAA today "'reluctantly' lifted its ban on holding championship events in North Carolina, removing its six-month-old prohibition less than a week after the state’s Legislature and governor repealed a so-called bathroom bill that had led to boycotts of the state." With next year’s Final Four to be held in San Antonio, the authors of a Texas "bathroom bill" known as Senate Bill 6, or the Texas Privacy Act, "cheered the NCAA’s decision." But critics of North Carolina's new law "condemned the NCAA" (NYTIMES.com, 4/4).

With the NCAA and ACC lifting their bans on North Carolina events, the NBA is now the "lone major sports holdout." For the NBA, the "question" is whether the state's new law replacing HB2 "does enough to ensure diversity and inclusion to bring back the All-Star Game" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 4/4).
