Roger Federer Says Laver Cup Will Feature High Level Of Competition

Roger Federer today said that the Laver Cup "will be as competitive as other global tournaments," dismissing concerns that players "might treat the event, which launches in September, as an exhibition." The tournament, a tennis equivalent of the Ryder Cup, will see "teams of six from Europe and the rest of the world compete in singles and doubles over three days." Federer said, "It has maybe no points and that is why people might consider it an exhibition. But that is not how the captains see it" (REUTERS, 2/20).
