USA Swimming Exec Dir Chuck Wielgus To Retire In August

USA Swimming Exec Dir Chuck Wielgus will retire effective Aug. 31, the organization announced today. Wielgus joined USA Swimming in July '97 and is the longest-tenured chief exec among U.S. Olympic NGBs. He also has served as USA Swimming Foundation CEO since its inception in '04. Under Wielgus' leadership, the U.S. swim team has averaged more than 31 medals over the past five Summer Games; revenues have increased by 600%; membership has doubled to more than 400,000; and the U.S. Olympic Team Trials have become a major showcase event (USA Swimming).
