The Mariners have suspended C Steve Clevenger "without pay for the remainder of the season following a pair of tweets he sent out on Thursday afternoon that were critical of the Black Lives Matter movement" and President Barack Obama (SEATTLETIMES.com, 9/23).

Free-agent SS Jimmy Rollins has joined Turner Sports as a studio analyst for "MLB on TBS" coverage leading up to and throughout the MLB Postseason (Turner Sports). 

ESPN's Chris Mortensen was on Friday's edition of "NFL Insiders," his first appearance since early this year after a battle with Stage IV throat cancer (THE DAILY). 

Raliance, a new NFL-funded initiative to end sexual violence, Thursday night "held a launch party at the Arts Club of Washington, hosted by its three constituent organizations." Attendees included NFL Senior VP/Social Responsibility Anna Isaacson and "recipients of Raliance's first round of grants" totaling $1.2M (POLITICO.com, 9/23).
