Banc Of California Signs 15-Year Venue Naming-Rights Deal With LAFC

MLS expansion club LAFC today "announced a naming-rights deal" with Banc of California for the team's new 22,000-seat stadium. The deal is for 15 years. The team, "set to debut" in '18, broke ground on the venue today in L.A. The bank has "only been called Banc of California" since '13, when it "changed its name from Pacific Trust, and it will be by far the smallest bank to attach its name to a professional stadium." Banc of California has "fewer than 40 branches and assets" of about $10B, making it "about one-tenth of the size" of BBVA Compass, which holds rights to the Dynamo's stadium in Houston (LATIMES.com, 8/23).
