Mattress Company Airweave Sticking With Lochte As Endorser

Japanese mattress company Airweave President & CEO Motokuni Takaoka said that U.S. swimmer Ryan Lochte will "remain a U.S. ambassador" for the brand after police determined that he made up his account of being robbed in Rio to cover up a late-night altercation at a gas station (TWITTER.com, 8/18).

Twitter reaction to the Lochte situation continues to pour in. N.Y. Times' John Branch: "If Lochte story a lie, 2 reasons to be angry: 1. Embarrassing to Brazil 2.Took attention from deserving Olympians." USA Today's Christine Brennan: "Multiple reports that Ryan Lochte made it all up. What a terrible thing to do. What an embarrassment to the USOC at these Rio Games." ESPN's Dick Vitale: "Yes @RyanLochte has created major damage personally & professionally!" SI's Luke Winn: "The IOC is just mad that it didn't have the foresight to sell the rights to Rio's gas station security cam network." Yahoo News' Oliver Knox: "I'm as gobsmacked as anyone that a scheme involving Ryan Lochte fell short of flawless."
