EPL Set To Kick Off Season With Global Profile Higher Than Ever

The EPL season kicks off Saturday, and the global profile of the league "has never been higher." Last season, a record 514,000 average viewers watched EPL games on TV in the U.S., while the number of game minutes streamed on the NBC Sports app rose 118% (Torrance DAILY BREEZE, 8/11). NBC Sports' EPL TV schedule begins with a Saturday morning tripleheader on CNBC that includes '15-16 champion Leicester City's opening match against Hull City. NBC Sports Group Soccer Coordinating Producer Pierre Moossa said, "Olympic coverage really helps Premier League coverage because there are so many people that are sampling the Premier League for the first time. ... We expect a massive increase in audience" (WORLDSOCCERTALK.com, 8/10).
