N.J. Loses Another Federal Court Ruling On Sports Wagering

A federal appeals court today "struck down New Jersey's latest attempt to legalize sports betting." The U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia ruled that a '14 law signed by Gov. Chris Christie violated a '92 federal ban on sports wagering. The decision "may not be the final word on the subject," as state Sen. Raymond Lesniak said that he "expected the state to ask the U.S. Supreme Court to hear the case." It is "up to Christie to decide whether the state would petition the high court" (NJ.com, 8/9).
