Little Caesars Gets Red Wings Arena Naming Rights In 20-Year Deal

Little Caesars and Red Wings parent company Olympia Entertainment today announced a deal establishing Little Caesars Arena as the name of the NHL team's new arena in downtown Detroit. The 20-year agreement has an average annual value of more than $6.25M, estimated to be the largest naming-rights deal for a building whose sole pro sport is hockey. Little Caesars also will become the team's official website and social media presenting sponsor starting with the '17-18 season (Olympia Entertainment).

The deal "makes a lot of sense because of cross-branding" due to the Ilitch family owning the team and the pizza chain. Little Caesars "gets national name-branding exposure while likely getting a discount" (CRAINSDETROIT.com, 4/28).
