Coyotes Buying AHL Falcons, Moving Team From Springfield To Tucson

The AHL Springfield Falcons are being sold to the Coyotes in a "deal that could end" the Massachusetts city's 80-year affiliation with the AHL. Falcons Owner Charlie Pompea confirmed the acquisition, which "foreshadows a franchise shift" to Tucson, Ariz. Pompea "did not disclose terms of the deal but said it was definite" (MASSLIVE.com, 4/19). The deal is "contingent on league approval and an agreement with both the City of Tucson and Rio Nuevo."
