NFL Not Changing Existing Policies Regarding Daily Fantasy

The NFL is not changing its existing policy toward daily fantasy sports, the league told owners at the annual meeting today. Last March, before regulatory efforts to halt DFS gathered steam, the NFL allowed its clubs to sign sponsorship and ad deals in the sector. The allowance included a provision that the league could bar the category, but it will not do that. “The league and teams comply with all applicable laws,” NFL VP/Communications Brian McCarthy emailed in response to a question about the DFS briefing. “If there are changes we would modify our policies accordingly.” Twenty-eight of the 32 teams have DFS deals.

A team source said the league presentation showed the regions where DFS is currently outlawed, those where it is under attack by local authorities and those where it is allowed with no issues. He said the presentation was sanguine about the future of DFS.
