Daytona Keeping Central "Injector" Unbranded For Now

Daytona Int’l Speedway is keeping its fifth, center injector unbranded and unsold for now in anticipation of the next Cup Series title sponsor possibly wanting it, track President Joie Chitwood III said. The four other injectors – or branded entrances plus their connected concourses – have been sold to Chevrolet, Toyota, Sunoco and Florida Hospital. Sources said they were valued at $2-2.5M annually over 10- to 15-year terms. The sources added the center injector would likely go for a higher rate due to its central location and size.

During a tour of the renovated frontstretch today, Chitwood said that while there is no set time for when DIS wants to have the central injector sold, waiting to see who is the new entitlement partner makes the most sense because the sponsor may well want to have a massive presence at Daytona. Sprint will exit the sport after this year, and NASCAR's hunt for a replacement is ongoing.
